Typography project for BA Graphic Design at Ravensbourne
 
For this brief, I was given a designer which I was to then research, create a typeface which was inspired by their work and create a poster to celebreate the typeface and their work combinded.  

 

My designer was Karel Martens, an icon in the graphic design field. He used vidid colours and shapes to produce his work, which is something I needed to capture in my typeface. He played with the use of overlapping and printing which is what informed my design. Once I created the typeface, I was then allowed to add colour which really helped in bringing out the essential tools Marten used in his designs to make it his own. My A2 poster was a combination of all things Martens from overlapping to printing to mistakes, I feel that this all represents his work in a unique way.
